Muffin Tops?

Yes, muffin tops and no, this is not me! But I do find myself asking my husband if I look like I'm a muffin top as I squeeze into my skirt on Sunday morning.

But I see muffin tops everywhere these days; kind of changes how you feel about the once loved muffin at Tim's, eh?

A great number of praises lately...

There are a great number of praises these days; I've had the Lord answer prayer over and over in the last months. It is sad to admit that sometimes, I've been too busy to notice...

I have to share the latest blessing. I was made aware of a young, 20 yr old, woman with some heart trouble last Sunday and her great~aunt asked Kasha and I to pray for her. Jenny T was going into surgery on Monday morning at 9am. She had many operations and the scare tissue had built up so that it was giving her yet more trouble so she was advised to have surgery in Halifax NS, where the Dr's could remove it and give her a bit of quality to her life. Since she was a very young girl, she's had limitations on the amount of activity she could attempt. She was never bitter about any of this, to her family's knowledge...

I was thrilled to get to church to let mys wonderful sister in the Lord know that I had remembered Jenny in my prayer time and to ask about her progress... I was shocked to hear that Jenny had passed away due to complications.

Jenny's parents never attended church but her grandparents loved the Lord and when she was about 9 -10 yrs, she would ask her grandparents if she could stay for the weekend and go to church... It thrilled those grandparents but at the same time, they often wondered if she had ever made any decisions. Jenny never voiced any but continued to visit...

Jenny asked for a pastor Sunday evening the night before her surgery (just this past Monday)... That pastor took the Word of God and shared the gospel with Jenny where she was gloriously saved. The next morning, Jenny went to surgery with peace now.

Things didn't go well, Jenny had some bleeding and then, came some strokes thru the night. The Dr's told Jenny's family that she had no brain activity ~ yes, Jenny was taken off life support system, as she had slipped into the very presence of our Savior!

Prayer is not always answered the way we predict or even how we'd like to see them answered but our God is faithful and we are only here to serve and glorify Him with our lives and even sometimes, in death.

It is my prayer that Jenny's death and testimony will speak to her parents and they too, will see their need for Him!

I'm claiming one of my favorite verses for them...

Jer 33:3 ~ Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Accept Jesus As Your Lord And Personal Savior

It is very important that you give your life to Christ and invite Him to come and live in your heart. The bible tells us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one cometh to the Father except through Jesus Christ (John14:6). Accepting Jesus Christ is as easy as confessing that He is Lord over your life.

If you are willing to do that right now just simply say...

Dear Lord Jesus,

I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died on the cross and shed Your blood that I will be saved and inherit eternal life. I believe You rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. I believe You will come again to judge the living and the dead. Father, I am a sinner. Forgive my sins. Wash me and make me worthy of Your presence. Have Your way in my life. Come and stay in my life. Father, please write my name in the Book of Life. I confess You as my Lord and Personal Savior. I no longer belong to this world nor the things of the enemy. Thank you, Lord Jesus for hearing my prayer. Amen.

Beloved, if you just confessed these words then you are now born again. Now, get into a good bible believing church. One of the most satisfying and incredible things about becoming a believer is finding others in a good church to fellowship with... It's like finding a family with the harmony and unity, that God means for us to have. Oh, I urge you to get involved, serve Him; it is the the very thing that gives us that joy unspeakable... "that your joy may be full"

Feels like I'm mowin' every other day???

Don't get me wrong, mowing is one of my favorite summer activities; yep, I'm telling the truth... I do like other things in summer but seems I'm busily picking up doggy dos and mowing most days.

But I'm thankful to have a lawn and Maisy too!

Thanks for all your prayers...

I finally made it thru orientation and I'm still here to blog about it! ~wink~

Things went well and I'm ready to take some (maybe 8 hr) shifts. I want to first thank God for His goodness in getting me thru the week and for all of you who thoughtfully prayed for me.

By the way, I love working with older people; they are the best! I've been chatting with some who say, they "are ready to meet the Lord"... It's so exciting to be able to sing the hymns along with them, pray with them when lights out and just to encourage, when they are feeling lonesome or other, praise in their excitement to move from the hospital to a comfortable nursing home, etc.

Thanks again for your time in prayer!

Moses & the Red Sea...

Nine-year-old Joey, was asked by his mother what he had learned in
Sunday school.

'Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses
behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of
Egypt.

When he got to the Red Sea , he had his army build a pontoon
bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then, he radioed
headquarters for reinforcements.

They sent bombers to blow up the
bridge and all the Israelites were saved and the Egyptians all drowned.

'Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?' his mother
asked.

'Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never

Effect or affect..?

There are five distinct words here. When “affect” is accented on the final syllable (a-FECT), it is usually a verb meaning “have an influence on”: “The million-dollar donation from the industrialist did not affect my vote against the Clean Air Act.”

Occasionally a pretentious person is said to affect an artificial air of sophistication. Speaking with a borrowed French accent or ostentatiously wearing a large diamond ear stud might be an affectation. In this sort of context, “affect” means “to make a display of or deliberately cultivate.”

Another unusual meaning is indicated when the word is accented on the first syllable (AFF-ect), meaning “emotion.” In this case the word is used mostly by psychiatrists and social scientists— people who normally know how to spell it.

The real problem arises when people confuse the first spelling with the second: “effect.” This too can be two different words. The more common one is a noun: “When I left the stove on, the effect was that the house filled with smoke.”

When you affect a situation, you have an effect on it.

The less common is a verb meaning “to create”: “I’m trying to effect a change in the way we purchase widgets.” No wonder people are confused. Note especially that the proper expression is not “take affect” but “take effect”—become effective. Hey, nobody ever said English was logical: just memorize it and get on with your life.

I'm going back to work...

Monday, I'm off to work for 2 days and 2 nights of 12 hr shifts; I haven't ever worked a 12 hr shift and I have to admit, I'm afraid I will be exhausted after this week.

I will be working on the geriatrics floor and the work load is nowhere near what it is in the homes; instead of having 10-18 patients, I'll have only 3-6!

Though this is an answer to prayer, I beg all of you to pray for me this week ~ I won't get these shifts all the time but this week is my orientation at the Dr Edward Chambers Hospital (the DECH) in F'ton.

And God has answered another prayer; he provided us with a car thru the Hillmans. We went out to price new cars and we just can't/don't want to fit it in the budget ~ we like to save the money and own the vehicle... No warranty but hey, no payments either! ;)

Our great God is always soo good, isn't He...
