Help us pray for the Duke family...

Art Duke
A wonderful brother in Christ was saved later in life and was a great testimony. After a lengthy stay at the hospital, passed on into glory this morning at 6:30.
His manner was to never let anyone get by, unnoticed; he was a teaser for sure but in his usually kind way.
And he wouldn't stop til you smiled! He was always willing to serve the Lord in any way he could...

He will be sadly missed.

The Mom Song...

I found the words to the William Tell Overture
(Anita Renfroe)

Get up now

Get up now

Get up out of bed

Wash your face

Brush your teeth

Comb your sleepyhead

Here's your clothes and your shoes

Hear the words I said

Get up now!

Get up and make your bed

Are you hot?

Are you cold?

Are you wearing that?

Where's your books and your lunch and your homework at?

Grab your coat and gloves and your scarf and hat

Don't forget!

You gotta feed the cat

Eat your breakfast, the experts tell us it's the most important meal of all

Take your vitamins so you will grow up one day to be big and tall

Please remember the orthodontist will be seeing you at 3 today

Don't forget your piano lesson is this afternoon so you must play

Don't shovel

Chew slowly

But hurry

The bus is here

Be careful

Come back here

Did you wash behind your ears?

Play outside, don't play rough, will you just play fair?

Be polite, make a friend, don't forget to share

Work it out, wait your turn, never take a dare

Get along!

Don't make me come down there

Clean your room, fold your clothes, put your stuff away

Make your bed, do it now, do we have all day?

Were you born in a barn?

Would you like some hay?

Can you even hear a word I say?

Answer the phone!

Get off the phone!

Don't sit so close, turn it down, no texting at the table

No more computer time tonight!

Your iPod's my iPod if you don't listen up

Where are you going and with whom and what time do you think you're coming home?

Saying thank you, please, excuse me makes you welcome everywhere you roam

You'll appreciate my wisdom someday when you're older and you're grown

Can't wait till you have a couple little children of your own

You'll thank me for the counsel I gave you so willingly

But right now I thank you not to roll your eyes at me

Close your mouth when you chew, would appreciate

Take a bite maybe two of the stuff you hate

Use your fork, do not burp or I'll set you straight

Eat the food I put upon your plate

Get an A, get the door, don't get smart with me

Get a grip, get in here, I'll count to three

Get a job, get a life, get a PHD

Get a dose of,"I don't care who started it!You're grounded until you're 36"

Get your story straight and tell the truth for once, for heaven's sake

And if all your friends jumped off a cliff would you jump, too?

If I've said it once, I've said at least a thousand times before

That you're too old to act this way

It must be your father's DNA

Look at me when I am talking

Stand up straighter when you walk

A place for everything and everything must be in place

Stop crying or I'll give you something real to cry about

Oh!Brush your teeth, wash your face, put your PJs on

Get in bed, get a hug, say a prayer with mom

Don't forget, I love you

And tomorrow we will do this all again because a mom's work never ends

You don't need the reason why

Because, because, because, because

I said so, I said so, I said so, I said so

I'm the mom, the mom, the mom, the mom, the mom!!

Ta da!!! '

A candidate for Abdominoplasty?

Plastic surgery?
Yep, I went to see a surgeon yesterday ~ excited, yet afraid too.
Another surgery...
~unhun~

Because of the incisions that were made, the surgeon strongly advised against it! He says that the incision that is horizontal would hamper blood supply, making for huge trouble during surgery and in the healing process but the vertical one (x2) would never stretch for that procedure.

My first surgery was to remove a little more than 1/2 of my liver, to care for what was thought at the time ~ liver cancer. It was true, a large portion of the liver wasn't functioning and after the removal, the Dr's found it wasn't cancer. ;) Praise the Lord!

The second surgery was to fix a huge surgical hernia that had developed on my abdomen almost a year later. I had that surgery just 8 days before leaving for Saskatchewan ~ in retrospect, that might not have been the best move at the time!

While the plastic surgeon urges me not to seek another opinion, he informed me that I, indeed have 2 more hernias and he will refer me to, who he thinks is the finest in the area for this procedure.
Did I mention that this is surgery #3!
~ugh~

I knew I had one hernia and that is why I made the appointment with the plastic surgeon. I thought, if someone could do it once and for all and leave me with no more to worry about in the future, this is the guy to call!

On the other hand, I'm very thankful to live in a country where, we don't go broke when we have serious health issues. If I had to pay for just the first procedure, I'm certain, we would have been "in the poor house" (a phrase my mom often used). Cliffton was in school and lost about 3-5 wks of clinical (caught up later), I had to quit my job and things looked grim but our God is good, sooooo good!

God provided for our every need thru Christians all thru the Maritmes ~ Cliff & Kash had a furnished apt supplied by the Jeremy E. The place was so handy to the hospital, we didn't need to use the vehicle much, church family while we were there (Lower Sackville Baptist Church ~ the Dodds), financial needs were met, a vehicle that made it (and we had our doubts), etc.

Even just mentioning all the blessings, I'm encouraged all over again...
Now, what was it I was complaining about? :s

Sometimes it feels like everything works against you!

We recently moved to Woodstock NB because we had a desire to come back to the Maritime/Atlantic provinces to be closer to parents. Life is just more familiar here in NB and we were so happy when a job became available at the new hospital in the area.
It's always difficult to get used to a new place. I have struggles as far as direction but with many weeks of repetition, I can usually get around after 2-3 wks (with Kasha's help, of course).
I thought I'd find work right away but that didn't come to pass ~ it's okay, I don't have to work... I'm just a very social character and I want to be among people. After several weeks, Kash got called for an interview which turned into a fine job for her.
It's been our plan to find a place closer to F'ton as soon as it warms up and we can actually look at foundations and other areas when considering a buy. While waiting, we didn't think we struggle with getting to church. We did anticipate difficulty serving, until the time we moved closer, but not getting to the services, afterall, we are back to only the one vehicle...
Satan seems to have hammered us good in the Maritimes, with bad weather to keep us from services altogether. It seems every Wednesday and Sunday, there are weather conditions to contend with. We're experiencing freezing rain at this time, and snow all thru the night. My husband is working at 7, so he won't be here to shovel... ~ugh~
I'm willing to say, we've missed more church this winter than in all the years (17 yrs), we've been going to church.
I'm feeling pretty frustrated at this time.

Six~Week Wogging Plan...

Afraid some may not be able to see how easy this plan is ~ so thought I'd rewrite it!

If you regularly walk about 30 mins most days of the week, you are ready to start wogging. (check with your Dr to be sure) Try the workouts below, 3 or 4 times a week. On the days you don’t wog, either rest or do another activity, such as biking, swimming or weight training.

Week 1 ~ walk 4 mins, jog 2 mins. Repeat 3 times (total: 24 mins)

Week 2 ~ walk 3 mins, jog 3 mins. Repeat 4 times (total: 30 mins)

Week 3 ~ walk 2.5 mins, jog 5 mins. Repeat 3 times (total: 30 mins)

Week 4 ~ walk 3 mins, jog 7 mins. Repeat 2 times (total: 30 mins)

Week 5 ~ walk 2 mins, jog 8 mins. Repeat 2 times (total: 30 mins)

Week 6 ~ walk 2 mins, jog 9 mins. Repeat 2 times (total: 33 mins)

I know, I know...

I saw this in Shelley C's room about 15+ yrs ago and I've asked for it but no one seemed to know where the pattern went. Recently, we visited the Buckingham's home for carrot cake after supper in late January and there it was on her wall. She either didn't know where the pattern went or no longer had it!
