I had a book...

...that I never got to read ~ I loaned it out to never have it returned after purchasing it. It was called "The Heart of an Angry Child". Does anyone know where I can get this book? I seem to remember the authors name being Lou and something beginning with P for last name.

If anyone can help ~ pls email or leave comments! Thanks!

Things are not always what/how they appear...

The woman arrived
At an airport one night
With several long hours
Before her flight.

She hunted for a book
In the airport shop,
Bought a bag of cookies
And found a place to drop.

She was engrossed in her book
But happened to see,
That the man sitting beside her,
As bold as could be,

Grabbed a cookie or two
From the bag in between,
Which she tried to ignore
To avoid a scene.

So she munched the cookies
And watched the clock,
As the gutsy cookie thief
Diminished her stock.

She was getting more irritated
As the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, "If I wasn't so nice,
I would blacken his eye.

"With each cookie she took,
He took one too,
When only one was left,
She wondered what he would do.

With a smile on his face,
And a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie
And broke it in half.

He offered her half,
As he ate the other,
She snatched it from him
And thought... ooh, brother!

This guy has some nerve
And he's also rude,
Why he didn't even show
Any gratitude!

She had never known
When she had been so galled,
And sighed with relief
When her flight was called.

She gathered her belongings
And headed to the gate,
Refusing to look back
At the thieving ingrate.

She boarded the plane,
And sank in her seat,
Then she sought her book,
Which was almost complete.

As she reached in her baggage,
She gasped with surprise,
There was her bag of cookies,
In front of her eyes.

If mine are here,
She moaned in despair,
The others were his,
And he tried to share.

Too late to apologize,
She realized with grief,
That she was the rude one,
The ingrate, the thief!

How many times have we absolutely known that something was a certain way, only to discover later that what we believed to be true...was not?

***My Mom or Dad, (can't recall which at this moment), used to say don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see!***

Melodie sent this to me and I've seen it before ~ last week I think! It's just one of those things that really make you think! It sure makes me think of all the times I spoke out of turn... We don't always know what is going on in someone's life/home!

My favorite scent(s)...

Melodie wanted to know some of our favorite smells ~ as weird as some of mine are, they are... Nothing smells better than fresh dried clothes from the line! Actually, Cliffton & I were just talking about that on our last walk together. He says, "no matter where we lived, I've always appreciated the bed when it had clean laundered sheets right from the clothesline"...

The smell of fresh baked bread isn't that far behind, though! When you walk in the house and forgot that you had the bread machine on... Ohhh!

Ahhh, lavender...

And then there is vanilla too... ~mmm~

Here is a weird one ~ fresh cut grass! And if you need your lawn mowed and done right, call me... I'm strange about the mowing of the lawn!

Yep, saw dust too...

The dense forest ~ the deeper, the better the smell! Ahhh...

So come one tell one or some of yours! We want to hear... ~wink~

Mom, Dad...

Look what you bought me!

My inlaws gave the family gift cards for Mark's Work Warehouse and because they don't carry petites, I usually can't find anything right away. I have to keep going back again and again... But Cliffton found an awesome pair of shoes and I gave him my card to make up the difference. He'd pay me back some other way, some other day...

By the way, I'm certain he'd if I let him, he would give me a $50 kiss and that would make us even! ~wink~

Anyway, they have a bible store/room here in S'toon called Blessings and I hadn't visited yet. I love stickers and Cliff and I were out in that area so I asked if he could stop and we look around in there. We did and here's what I bought with the money I got for the gift certificate...

This piece of art is by Gail Eads and it is beautiful and measures almost 3 feet across and about 10 ins from top to bottom and then I got this...

This piece is by Pat Fischer... Ring a bell? I just won a piece on Ebay by the same artist. I love my new finds and I can't say these were such a bargain. But I'm happy and they'll look great when I move some place I'm allowed to paint. ~yippee~ I can't wait!

Thursday, March 22, 2007

Ebay is great!

I'm sitting waiting on seven items I've won thru Ebay ~ I can't wait!

Last week I sold two of Kasha's homeschool books that we are finished with! they brought in some ca$h and I went on a shopping spree...

First, I purchased this CD by the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team for $13.95...

Then I got this book, The Excellent Wife (4th purchase) ~ i love this book, I tell others, they borrow it and "presto"... it disappears! Well, not this time ~ I'm keeping tabs on this one. I got this for $12.50...

Then I got these... Yes, Eddie Bauer (my personal favorite ~ why, because they make clothes for short people) and I got these for pants and capris in the same pkg for $5.99 and I've noticed they need laundering (the same as Value Village, Frenchys', etc) but EB is the best and worth my time!

Then I got these ~ one for $1 and the other for $2 and the shipping was reasonable. One is for our library and one for our new church Open Door Baptist ~ we have a huge bible camp! By the way, one seller had this book on line as a "buy it now" price at $99 ~ I heard it was a good book, but wow! Joel E shared his knowledge of this book with my husband! Thanks, Joely (as his mom would say)! ~wink~

I got these ~ yes, more Eddie Bauer capris for summer at $7.99 but they are worth every penny ~ I have these in other colors and the fit is great! I hope they come before I leave for Saint John... I want to take them with me!

My final purchase, just yesterday was a framed bible verse by Pat Fischer and it is gorgeous! I got this for a measly $7.97... And it has Isa 40:11 ~ it is very pretty!

So that's all my wonderful buys on Ebay this past week and a half! I can't wait til they get here! ~wink~

Potato Chip Cookies...

These are great when you have a few chips left at the bottom of a bag and a child or two ~ they are so facinated by these! This recipe promises 3 dozen...
1 c margarine
1/2 c sugar
Cream these together...
Mix in...
1/2 c crushed plain potato chips
1 1/2 c flour
Drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 F for 10 mins. Cool before removing from pan and enjoy with loved ones and cold milk or hot tea! ~smile~
***this recipe says a greased pan but I've seen it online and it says ungreased ~ I greased my pan when Kasha and I made them and had no problems!***

A little German humor...

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where, more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

I got this in an email and found it quite the challenge to read and wondered if others could get thru... ~wink~

"I feel sad for all the cows"...

Lance & I used to travel quite frequently to Moncton by train to visit Grampy. Boy, they were good times! We would lock up the apartment, pack summer clothes and off to the train station. We knew we were off to go camping with my Dad. They were sweet times that I enjoyed, maybe just as much as Lance ~ we knew we were going to Buctouche, NB to Grampy's trailer on the beach. Eating out side by the ocean... well, there just wasn't anything better. I remember eating seafood, corn on the cob, steak, etc.
The train ride was a real treat ~ there were times we missed the train and had to take the bus but the scenery just wasn't the same! There were hills, farm lands, lots of evergreen, rolling terrain, it was gorgeous!
On one trip, I looked at Lance, who was looking out the window of the train with a frown on his face, looking rather distraught. He was about 4-5 yrs old at this time. I asked him what was wrong ~ he looked at me and said, "I feel sad for all the cows". I asked, "why?" and he said, "because all the farmers are selling them!"...
Now, I was frowning ~ I said, "what would make you think that?" And Lance said, "because all the cows have price tags on their ears!"
~wink~

Facing the Giants...

Well, I finally saw the movie, "Facing the Giants" ~ it looked bleak for a while... Not the movie, but my finding it! I thought I was going to Walmart and not just picking up a copy but buying 2 more copies for some special people in my life that I've been praying for... But to my amazement, I couldn't find it anywhere!

Finally, I said to my husband, "let's go try to rent it". We did and I have to tell you about how that went...

First, we searched the "previously viewed" section for a copy on sale. When I asked the sales lady about it, she told me (on the way to where it was displayed), that they only bought 8 copies and it's still renting well, so selling for preciously viewed would be a little while yet! When we reached the movie, she looks at me funny and in a low voice asks, "what have you heard of this movie?". I tell her, "Oh, I've heard great things about it!". Her voice gets even lower and she looks around before saying, "it's reeeeeally religious!" and I smile and say, "that's great ~ I'm a born again Christian!"... She smiles, awkwardly and says, "you'll love it then...". I thought it was funny the way she looked around, lowers her voice like she was going to tell me some huge, news breaking, facts... ~wink~

Now, for the movie ~ I thought it was wonderful... for us Christians! I hope that it empowers me to look for and see the giants in my life and deal with them. I recognized a few already, long before seeing the movie, but was never challenged to deal with them ~ the Lord has used the movie to give me that gentle, but loving shove to go on in "the face of the giants" for Him and in His power. And with His help, I'm going to!

I do feel bad for those that have "no hope" Recently, I was confronted by someone and I can now see where I would be had I not trusted Christ as my personal Savior. I'm so thankful to have the hope that the Lord has put me here for a reason ~ to bring glory to Him! That is my whole purpose ~ but I have something to live for, when so many others are just doing time, always wondering "why am I here, what is my purpose in this life, is there a plan some place written down, etc?"... Oh, those days are so fresh and yet so far away.

Lord, help me, not to look down on those that are still lost, help me to praise you for your grace in reaching down and lifting me out of the mire. Help me to tell them about your plan for us. It is written down in your word, the bible. Also, to continuously pray for them, that they see their need for you!

My huge giant is telling (in a loving way) others about my Savior!

Facing the Giants...

I haven't even seen it yet, nor am I a huge movie fan ~ okay, so it's my attention span, alright, I admit it ~ I don't have one! But I've heard that one of my former Pastors shared it with his congregation in service time. It must be good. You have to know, this is no wishy, washy Pastor. He stands firm, with strong convictions, based upon the Word of God...

First, I saw it on Sara's blog, then I rec'vd an email from Judy D, then my sister in law, Sue emailed me today and then I finally go to another Christian sister's blog, Melodie and find it there too.

After the email from Judy, we planned this weekend to rent it ~ now by the reveiws of people we love and trust, who put the Lord first, would never lead us to do wrong... we are going to buy the movie. There are so few movies that believers can watch with a clear conscience...

I can't wait to get out the popcorn ~ I can sit still for treats! Thnx, Friends ~ for all you who haven't seen it, I'll be back with my personal review... ~wink~

Here is a recipe I got from a fellowblogger...

Sort of dirty and well used too! ~mmm~ I have a few apples too... maybe, just maybe I'll...

Is it old age?

Isn't tea a wonderful treat? ~mmm~ There are so many choices in tea these days, I don't know what to buy when I'm looking for something new. I'm having Jumbleberry tonight! It smells so good...

I've been missing blogging due to an exam this Friday ~ not that I've been overly studying but I feel so guilty to sit at the computer to write. But I do sneak to see if any of my "favorite bloggers" have blogged while I'm away.

Just when we thought "Spring had sprung" here in S'toon ~ we got another storm today... ~ugh~ It is all in the Lord's hands! Cliff & I looked at barbeques today at Walmart and by the time we came out... there was snow everywhere! When can we get out the barbeque ~ Cliffton shovelled off the deck so we were ready, really we were...

We went home to have supper before midweek service ~ just steak in the pan, cooked slow to give it a wonderful texture with julienne peppers & onions, sweet potato and I baked a potato for me... I had a craving that just wouldn't quit! ~mmm~

And now I'm going to have my tea and 3 digestive cookies ~ is that a sign of age?

God does answer prayer...

I was struggling with not hearing from my son in Alberta for almost 2 wks. Last night, the Lord answered and Lance called. Everything is fine and I don't need to worry. No, I don't need to worry... Ever!
I was reminded of all this by Sara's comments about a book being read in a book club she is a member of... Thanks Sara, for reminding me that to worry is to sin against my Savior!
Haven't I trusted God with my soul for all eternity? Why shouldn't I trust Him with my son's safety?
Thank you Lord for answered prayer!

Friday, March 9, 2007

I've been called alot of things...

I rec'vd this little fun thing to do from my friend, Marilyn and I thought I'd send it out and see what people think. You send out an email that asks your friends (those that know you best) to describe you in one word. I have to tell you that my brother, Todd holds the opinion "it's none of my business what others think of me"...but I thought I'd bend that rule just a bit!

I got lots of feed back but the one that really took me by surprise is the one my sister, Lisa sent. "IMPETUOUS!" I frowned and said, impetuous! I want the true definition before I fly off the handle. So I googled it and this is what came up...

Web definitions for impetuous

hotheaded: characterized by undue haste and lack of thought or deliberation; "a hotheaded decision"; "liable to such impulsive acts as hugging strangers"; "an impetuous display of spending and gambling"; "madcap escapades"; (`brainish' is archaic)

Now, the hotheaded part thru me ~ if anything I think too much about my next move ~ so much that no one can enjoy a board game with me! But when I got to the "hugging strangers" part then I busted up laughing...

You see, Kasha & I had this episode in the Giant Tiger at home in Saint John where I saw a real nice pair of boots. I grabbed them to get a better look ~yikes~ they were attached by an elastic and there was a woman kneeling down to find her size. I stood on my tiptoes but the boot just managed to reach her head.
Yep, I hit her in the head with a boot ~ I frowned and said "oh, I'm so sorry" and then proceeded to hug her... She wasn't gonna have any of that and gave me a gentle but firm shove.

Now here's the real challenge ~ we'd never been introduced but we saw each other in the neighborhood grocery store and all, she lived in my neighborhood and has never looked at me the same... ~ugh~

Read to our children..?

Where do I start... maybe the beginning is the best spot.

When I was expecting Lance, the pro's (whoever they were, at that time) were encouraging parents to read to their children as early as possible. So the next time I went to the grocery store, I looked thru the Golden Books and here is what I picked up...

I read this book to Lance, everytime he was in his swing, sitting with me on the couch, going to bed, etc ~ just any ole chance I got, I read this book. He was about 3 wks old when he started to show signs he was really enjoying my reading ~ which only encouraged me all the more...

You see, Sooki, the Saggy Baggy Elephant was alone having the time of his life dancing and kicking... He meets up with a parrot and then the tiger (front cover) who began to tease him ~ his skin doesn't fit like the tiger's (fits like a glove). I could tell this story by heart, if I absolutely had to... Anyway, Sooki's in a bad way! He finds a nice pond to just relax maybe even shrink his skin...

...Only to be frightened by the alligator who was "looking greedily at Sooki's tender ears". Poor fella clambered up the bank to find a place to hide his hidious sags, bags and wrinkles. Sooki found a cave and he was feeling really bad...

Just when he thinks, he's had all he can take ~ the lion comes padding down the path for a meal. After all he's only had a "thin, bony antelope, and a puny monkey, a tough buffalo and two turtles ~ nothing much to them between the saucers they wear for clothing. He's so hungry, he could eat an elephant"...

Check out the muscles! It is at this point that Lance's lip begins to tremble and remember, he's only 3-4 wks old. His eyes well up and he just lets it rip ~ he just starts sobbing... I tell him, "it's okay ~ Sooki's gonna be okay, really"... I take him out of the swing and just hold him ~ he was a wreck! I had to be careful after that about how expressive I read to Lance. I didn't want any reruns but it was funny (when I look back on it). At the time, a young mother wondered if reading to children was a good idea...
To be continued...

Kasha made this for me for lunch ~ what a double blessing! Blessed once to have it made and blessed again when eating it! ~mmm~

We joined...

Open Door Baptist Church in S'toon!

The congregation was very gracious and loving too ~ that's part of the reason we wanted to join. ~smile~ We are so thankful to the Lord for answering our prayer for a need to be part of an independent Baptist church ~ God is so good!

He hasn't stopped blessing me since the day of my salvation... I wouldn't have been wise enough when I first got saved to know it was really important for me to join an independent church. The Lord knew! He put me in the right place (FBC), with discerning, mature, Christians who loved the Lord and even took time to disciple me from the beginning ~ Jan 17, 1992.

Thank you, Lord ~ I am truly thankful for all the wonderful Christians you've brought into my life!
